DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY
At Regency Park PS, digital technologies are used to facilitate personalised and authentic learning within an integrated approach across all areas of the curriculum. Professional learning enables teachers to develop students' capabilities to become innovative and confident users of a range of technologies.
Our philosophy to the use of digital technology is that it can provide teachers with one more approach to provide the best possible learning for our students. The purpose and learning intention of each lesson will determine which technology, if any, is required to maximise learning.
All classrooms have interactive whiteboards which are used to provide engaging activities in all areas of the curriculum. Complementing the teachers use of technology is the development of the students’ own ICT skills. Based on the Victorian Curriculum, students from Prep – 6 move through a sequential framework of skill development and have regular access to a range of digital technologies, including laptops, iPads and robotics equipment such as BeeBots, OzoBots, Spheros and Lego Robotics.
At Regency Park we encourage all our students, staff and parents to be innovative whilst also being safe, responsible and aware digital users. Whilst the internet and digital technologies serve as a wonderful educational tool, it is important that our students are aware how to protect themselves online. This includes learning about privacy, being safe online and strategies to manage cyber bullying. Acceptable Use Agreements are also discussed and reviewed regularly with students when working with technology. Regency Park Primary School is an eSmart school and we pride ourselves on providing a safe online learning environment.
